In his press conference today, President Obama pointed out that if the Insurance companies truly are putting the care of their customers first, rather than choosing only healthy people to cover, collecting premiums and avoiding paying out, then why would they be afraid of a public option? The facts are that the insurance companies need an attitude adjustment. A public option competing in the marketplace will incentivize private insurers to do the right thing and make the IT innovations necessary for our health and cutting admin costs.
