What questions about healthcare reform would you like members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus to answer?

Will the public plan option involve cost cutting measures?

According to Obama's budget director Peter Orszag about $700 billion in healthcare spending goes to care that can't be proven to be helpful or effective. Basically 1/3 of healthcare spending goes to interventions that may or may not work, and if they do work they may not be better than cheaper, s... more

Can Government employess be mandated to participate in the new healthcare for 2 years first?

If Congress and the President think that a single payer plan and more government control over healthcare is so wonderful, why not have all government employees pilot the program for 2 years starting NOW?

How will medicare advantage be affected!

My husband and I are retired and have Regence Medicare Advantage RX Enhanced. It seems to be like the French system. It is my understanding that Medicare offers a basic coverage and then we have a better coverage for a reasonable rate per month. Am I correct and how will this medicare advant... more

Will you seperate pharma from my GP?

I don't trust General Practitioners ("family doctors") any more to give me honest, practical advice. They seem more interested in prescribing a pill for every ailment, in many cases at-odds with my problem (or at the least, ignoring it).

Can we please include some provisions for dra... more

Will you stand up to Big Pharma?

The Big Pharmas charge too much for certain drugs. Sometimes, prices vary wildly between health plans. For example between Veteran's Hospitals ( who are allowed to haggle) and Medicare (which is not). How will you stabilize drug costs? Would you consider a price cap on certain drugs?

Will you vote for coverage of undocumented kids?

We can't have any more uninsured patients who get the worst and most expensive care in ED's. All kids need coverage, even those who are undocumented.

How much money is each member of Congress receiving on this?

How much is each member of Congress receiving from the health insurance and pharmaceutical companies towards their campaigns. We need to know who has their support, the people or the lobbyists.

Can you name any advantage to having lots of insurance plans

Competition works in many areas, but there is no value to having competing health insurances. We consumers all want as much coverage as we can afford. It clearly is not ethical to say the wealthier should by rights purchase more, better, health care than those with middle class wallets.

Are you receiving campaign money from Insurance companies?

I don't think we can believe congress will vote in favor of single payer if they are receiving donations from Ins. Companies. Lets at least be aware of who might have a personal conflict in voting against single payer. I won't trust someone who takes money from them.

    TAIWAN As an Example?

Have you looked at what Taiwan has done to complete restructure a health care system from the ground up, using the best examples from around the world?

How will you challenge for profit health care deniers?

For profit health insurers don't make any money buy paying on claims. Their business model depends on them denying care to their clients in order to turn a profit. What will you do to forcefully get this message out to the people against the hostile resistance of the corporate media?

Will health care be fully subsidized for the unemployed?

Health care is completely unaffordable for most unemployed. As long as it is not 100 percent subsidized for them, a mandate is nothing but a cruel and destructive punishment. No "universal health care" solution that fails to take care of this group is worth the powder to blow it up with.

Can states create single payer programs independently?

California's legislature has passed a universal single payer plan twice. If we can either get a Governor's signature or pass a ballot measure the Federal governments cooperation will be required. Will it be forthcoming.
